Supported coding clients
A coding client is the application you use. A model provider is the service that answers its API requests. CMX detects these six clients and can change their local routing settings. Install and sign in to the client first; CMX does not install it for you.
Run
cmx harness list to see what CMX detects on your machine. Run cmx providers <client> list to inspect discovered provider IDs and credential readiness. Listing does not change routing. A connected client normally needs a restart or editor reload before it uses new settings.
A different tool may work if it lets you set an API base URL and speaks a supported protocol. See Custom clients. CMX does not offer an automatic ChatGPT Desktop integration.
To undo a connection, use cmx providers <client> disconnect <provider-id> for a selected provider or cmx harness disable <client> for the whole client. cmx stop restores direct routing before stopping the gateway. See Undo and uninstall.
